Wireless data transmission: DLE 150 Connect laser
rangefinder with Bluetooth interface
The new DLE 150 Connect laser rangefinder can accurately
transmit measurements over a distance up to ten meters by
wireless to a pocket PC/PDA, laptop or desktop PC with Bluetooth
technology. The DLE 150 makes life easier for trades people
who have hitherto made measurements using a steel rule or
other type of distance meter and then transferred the figures
by hand into a computer. This new technology will be of
special benefit to decorators, building cleaning specialists,
floor-layers and other trades people when they are taking
measurements for assessing the amount of material they need
or for submitting a tender. Architects or real estate brokers
can use it for measuring whole buildings, where hundreds of
individual measurements are sometimes required.
The DLE 150 Connect is the first laser rangefinder in the world
with a Bluetooth interface. Immediately after a measurement has
been taken, the transmitter accurately transmits the reading
to the input point of the applications program on the PC or
laptop. The data transmission software included with the
rangefinder prepares the measurements so that they can be
inserted directly into standard types of spreadsheet or other
tables, such as Excel. Even more time can be saved if tailor-made
measurement or CAD software has already been installed on the PC.
It is then possible to use the DLE 150 Connect to create a handy
and versatile system with almost unlimited storage and calculation
potential.
Like the DLE 150 introduced a year ago, the DLE 150 Connect
measures distances of up to 150 meters with a tolerance of a few
millimeters. For distances of up to 30 meters, the typical
tolerance is 2mm. Both models share the same easy-to-use user
interface and the superior speed and range.
Independently of the Bluetooth interface, the DLE 150 Connect
allows surface area, volume and indirect distance measurements
to be made by clear and simple push-button commands. However,
only the distance measurements are transmitted, as in these
cases it is the PC software which does the calculations.
For accurate measurement of separation distances, the user of
the DLE 150 Connect employs the so-called 'Minimum' function.
The laser beam is moved across the place to be measured. The
rangefinder then calculates an exact minimum figure from the
continuously stored measurements. The 'Maximum' function helps
in a similar way to calculate diagonals. The rangefinder can
also add and subtract measurements. Its built-in memory can
store 20 measurements.
The DLE 150 Connect will be available from January 2004 in
specialist tool stores at a price of 549 Euro (plus VAT).
