1st stage: The air buffer, which is larger than in conventional hammer mechanisms, reduces the air pressures in the hammer mechanism. This counteracts the oscillations like a spring and dampens the vibrations where they originate: in the hammer mechanism

 

2nd stage: The main handle is decoupled from the machine by means of a leaf spring and two swivel joints. The vibrations already reduced by the first stage are absorbed further.
